Inconsistency with a rule?

I',m pretty sure in an early episode, it turned out only Sam was able to use the vessel to capture souls. One of the others tried and it didn't work.

But on the episode where Andi found out about Sam's deal, somehow she was able to use the vessel. From then on, it appeared anyone could use it.

reply

Which episode are you refering to? I don't think there was ever a rule that only Sam could use the vessels.

I think the first case of someone else using a vessel was in like episode 5, Sock used the vessel to catch the slime dude.

reply

I think you might be talking about the episode where they were using the cattle prod thing to capture the 20+ souls that were living in the warehouse. I believe it was Sock that tried to use it on a soul right after Sam did, but he wasn't able to and said "it can only be Sam!" Actually, it turned out that the cattle prod couldn't be used temporarily because it needs time to charge.

reply

It also seems like in the very first episode when the vessel was a Dirt Devil, I beleive Ben turned it on and it pulled the trucks' Trailer over.

The way to a woman's heart is not through her mother's private parts Denny Crane

reply

I believe they are talking about the episode with the invisible hunter and the Magic Bullet vessel. That was the only episode the Sam was the only one that could use the vessel. In all the other the vessel could be used by anyone.

reply

During the invisible hunter only Sam could use the magic bullet.

During the Slime Demon Sock wore the sweater but he was holding on to Sam with both hands at the same time any they were both crushing the slime demon between them.

Sock while empowered with borderline super human strength and endurance by a good succubus used the base ball vessel on the fortune teller.

Sock used the Dirt Devil on a truck but was no where near the fire demon at the time.

Andi used the scythe no problem.

During the first season Andi was the only one to use a vessel without extenuating circumstances and if there was a season three Andi, because of the angel manipulating events so that Andi's soul was also sold to the devil, would of been a Reaper. An it always struck me as odd that from the piolet on that the Devil never wanted Sam to tell Andi what was going on but never gave a damn about the large number of people Sam told on a regular basis. I all ways figured that it would be reviled she was half angel or something an that her dad did not die but was rather forced to go home.

In season 2 episode 1 Sock used the cattle prod no problem, minus the recharge issue but the effect changed from sucking black smoke to glittering gold dust so the rules might of changed as well.

I don't know whether you intentionally misspell Ulysses as Ulysess (maybe you wanted to have a unique nickname), but please stop writing “might of” and “would of” instead of “might have” and “would have”. (would have been, might have changed).

reply

Seriously!

I can understand a lot of misspellings because it's usually spelled the way it sounds. Granted, 'would have' and 'could have' may sound like of, but if one were to actually read it back it makes absolutely NO sense, grammatically.

reply

not only are your corrections wrong...

but he didn't even use the phrases you were trying to correct...

reply

My corrections are correct, and Ulysess [sic] used both "would of been", and "might of changed" in his post, so I don't know what you're talking about (it's alright; neither do you).

"Alright" isn't a word. You mean "all right."

You obviously didn't (or couldn't :) read my signature.

Sorry, but I'm not buying it. You made an error -- we all do at times -- just admit it.

Let me tell you what you meant: "The spelling alright is less common than all right and is regarded by some people as an error. It occurs mainly in informal writing."

If you said that, I'd have no wise-ass comeback. Instead, you incorrectly stated that "alright" is not a word (when it is by most definitions of the word "word") and then you said what you thought I meant (giving me the freedom to do the same).

Sorry, still not buying it.

You really should buy it. A modern dictionary is a useful thing to have.

This ends here for me, so if it pleases you, answer back and have the final say. Cheers.

tzot, I'll take the last word here - to agree with you.

Alright is found in most modern dictionaries including the Oxford English Dictionary, which is the most comprehensive dictionary on the planet of any language. It is defined there as an adverb meaning just, exactly.

Not everybody agrees that it's correct as noted by Grammar Girl, http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/all-right-versus-alright.aspx, but it most certainly is a word.

It's a word I like and find useful, if that's not obvious by my post. I hope it gains further acceptance and usage.

Hello,
Is this something you have imagined, or did one of the creators say that they had planned on doing this? Because that sounds very interesting. :)

it always struck me as odd that from the piolet on that the Devil never wanted Sam to tell Andi what was going on but never gave a damn about the large number of people Sam told on a regular basis
I always wondered about that, too.

PS: The other posters are right about your grammatical error, but considering that this is a comedy series about a group of slackers, I'm really surprised to see that the grammar police are pointing out people's grammatical errors on this message board... They must be really board (there is something just to amuse you people).
