And you have information regarding how old Robin Hood was when he became an outlaw?

I dont think he was that old

Again: based on what?
There is no indication of age regarding Robin Hood in the original RH stories. You picture him as younger because that's the way YOU want him to be, and that's fine; but that is not the way this movie's makers wanted him, and that's fine too. It's their movie, their choice.

robin hood never lived, so its irrelevant
shareThey were fine. You're just too used to young heroes in so many of these modern films.

You are right, lizannod.
shareI guess that people looked old when they were 20-ish back then.
shareThey should've cast a younger actor who could make the role his own, breath new life into the franchise-- like Bale as Batman or Craig as Bond.
Crowe is too old and established. The character and plot were too reminiscent of Gladiator.
Yeah, they sure as hell were. Yet another notch against this piece of drek.
What's worse is that they're making a sequel to this crap.
Man.
-"What's worse is that they're making a sequel to this crap."-
Really?
Best news I've heard so far this year :)
Blasphemy: It's a victimless crime
Don't get your hopes too high. There have been talks of a sequel for quite some time now, but nothing definite has been announced, as far as I know.

Still waiting to find out how the OP knows how old Robin and Marian were at the time this story is supposed to take place. Have historians finally unearthed their birth certificates?
Reminds me of the guy on an IMDB message board about some Biblical movie. He was angry that the actress playing Queen Esther wasn't as beautiful as the real Queen Esther. You know, like he'd seen her photograph.

"Crowe was definitely too old."
Obviously another historian who has gotten to see Robin's birth certificate. Maybe he has also seen Marian's driver's license. I'm a history buff, too: where can I go online to view these previously-unknown pieces of documentation regarding the ages of fictional characters?

People didn't even live to be 45 in the 12th century.
Of course they did.
Average life expectancy at birth in 12th-century England is usually computed at around 30-35 years. That doesn't mean people routinely dropped dead in their 30s or that you would have been considered 'old' at that age! This average is low because of the huge numbers of children who died in infancy. If you made it to the age of 21, your average life expectancy then was around 65. And that doesn't mean that people died 'of old age' in their mid-60s, because the average includes everybody who died in wars, plagues or accidents, and women who died in childbirth (the main cause of death for adult women). If you were lucky enough to avoid all those dangers, you could reach your 70s before being seen as seriously 'old'- Eleanor of Aquitaine was still actively leading armies in her late 70s - and lucky people often lived into their 80s.
Maid Marian wouldn't have a license back then, women weren't allowed to drive.
But in all seriousness, the cast was all wrong for a retelling and prequel of Robin Hood. He and she should have been in their mid-late twenties at most. Old enough to be a war veteran, but young enough to reboot a potential franchise.
Man, what the hell! They were looking perfect together!
Bulls make money, Bears make money, Pigs? They get slaughtered!share
Blanchett was about 40 and Crowe roughly 45 at the time of filming. That's really not that old, especially these days (Blanchett also looks a lot younger than she is imo). Also, I'd echo what someone else said: for a medieval setting, people probably looked a lot older than what they really were anyway, so you could easily imagine their characters were actually 30-somethings instead.
