Seriously, it's terrible. Noticed this in Gladiator too.

He should also stay away from developing or tinkering with scripts himself, and stick to good scripts written by professionals and not messed up by himself. Increasingly he is using film projects to indulge his own personal agenda which results in long, windy, preachy, plot-holed, dull films.
