Crysis Warhead ( Crysis 2 ) is under developement!

It was announced yesterday ( June 5th ) on Crytek's site. The 2nd game of the trilogy is under developement. I cant wait to see the first screens :-)

"In Crysis Warhead, players will don the Nanosuit of Sergeant Sykes, also known as ‘Psycho’, one of the most memorable characters from Crysis. More brash and aggressive than his Delta Force squadmate Nomad, players will experience Psycho’s parallel story during the events of the original game, finding that life on the other side of the island is even more intense and explosive than they ever could have imagined. Luckily, Psycho’s Nanosuit is just as capable and he’s equipped with an even bigger arsenal of fully customizable weapons and new vehicles, giving players access to the tools they need to dominate any situation. Aside from this new, exciting single player campaign, Crysis Warhead will also feature new multiplayer content. Stay tuned for more details this summer."

Isn't it more of an expansion than a sequel? Kinda like extraction point for F.E.A.R.(even though it has no impact on the story because project origin disregards it)

It is an expansion thats going to have a story running parallel to Nomad's missions....it is NOT the 2nd game in the trilogy. Those two are still far out and as yet, unannounced. Interestingly enough, having trademarked 'Crysis Warhead', Crytek is also filing for trademarks on the following: 'Crysis Wars', 'Crysis Annihilation' and 'World in Crysis' (Wars and Annihiliation sound like parts 2 and 3 respectively and the last one is probably going to end up being a MMOFPS, but thats just my speculation from the sound of the title).

Now for the really good news - Crytek promises to make the expansion much much much more compatible with mid-range machines. They will apparently optimize the code significantly. It is also speculated that once Warhead is released, they'll release a patch for the original Crysis to incorporate the refined code. I guess we will have to wait and see just how much of that promise comes true eventually...but I'm hoping for the best!

It's not expansion because you don't need the first Crysis to play it.
