I am very open minded to movies and normally enjoy almost everything I watch, but the corny monsters killed it for me. The premise was cool but I felt like it would have been better to leave the monsters more to our imagination. Not hatin just sayin.
You mean keep them more in shadow? I agree. They stopped being "scary" once they were shown in the light. It's a risk though, that a lot of directors take. Sometimes it can pay off, sometimes not. In this case, it's a not.
Agreed. The subtle off camera way they were treated for most of the film was MUCH more creepy to me then seeing them bust through windows or strutting around hissing at people. All you get mostly is just footprints, sounds and this sense of foreboding like something is out there watching. Thats all I need! The fact that they kept leaving the damn door open drove me crazy with anxiety! Close that *beep* Jees! And that scene pretty much no more then 5 minutes into the movie where you see one of them creeping off camera when the girl shuts the window was great! You arent ready to see anything scary yet and they give you this micro glimpse at what appears to be something CLEARLY alive and moving like a humanoid but you cant fully see it and you wonder did I just see that?? Im not ready for a monster yet! What was that?? That was great. plant those seeds in your audiences head before they even know what they need to fear. Thats creepy!
