Have you ever noticed, how the "convenient plot devices" and "contrived storylines" and basically, 'badly written stories, so that the 'twist' can happen' or 'badly written stories, so that the romance / happy ending' can happen... are the only type of movies that are 'analyzed' a lot?

That is, because they sacrifice logic and consistency, and break their own rules, just to bring you the ending the producer / test audience wanted. Not, because it benefits the story, or because someone very clever thought it all through.

It's because the MOVIE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE that people start feeling the need to 'analyze' it. Try analyzing Genisys or this, it's the same thing. Nonsensical plot just to satisfy certain 'cues' or 'needs', instead of thinking things through and delivering us something ACTUALLY analyze-worthy.

I have noticed this.

Avortac--

I actually thought this was a fairly good movie, once you grasped what was really happening.

As far as the "need to 'analyze' it", I attempt to analyze every time travel movie I can obtain. I have avoided or deferred some of the worst, and it is certainly true that a more complicated movie (usually involving more trips through time) will get a longer analysis than a simpler one, but that's because there's much more to examine.

You'll find the movies I've analyzed at http://www.mjyoung.net/time/ along with numerous pages on time travel theory, some correspondence, and some miscellaneous materials. I'm not sure what movies you think are the good ones, but if there are some I ought to have analyzed let me know. (I personally was very impressed with 11 Minutes Ago, and hope you've seen it.)

That was one of the most insightful and interesting analyses I have read of a movie in a very long time! Kudos to you!! :)
I'm definitely bookmarking your website

I'm also going to see if i can find 11 Minutes Ago and give it a watch.

Was looking through the list of movies, and there's two that aren't mentioned that come to mind: One of them is a short film called 12:01 PM (1990) (not the TV movie you mention in the page)
The other one, i just watched yesterday: It's an Australian very low budget movie called: The Infinite Man (2014). Strange movie, reminded me a bit of Primer for the low budget and the, hmmm, sort of homemade quality of the device, but this one is a comedy.

Again, thanks for the cool reading material!

Irenya--

I'm pleased you've enjoyed my site.

I keep a list of time travel movies I have not seen on my hard drive, and neither of those are on it, so I'm adding them; I'll keep an eye open for them. They look interesting, particularly the first one, but it's not always easy to find cheap copies of rare movies and the budget's not that great at the moment. I will look for them, though.

Thanks much.
