silly to argue Jon's parentage ended up meaning nothing


He knew, and he gave it up in order to begin democracy. I don't think that's unmeaningful.

One of the many reason I wonder about that fan rumor, the one that says D&D changed GRRM's original ending.

It's because they have worked so hard.

John's parentage meant nothing. Daenerys' good heart meant nothing. The prophecies meant nothing. The iron throne meant nothing. Being an advisor meant nothing. Being a Lannister meant nothing. And so in its turn the last season meant nothing. I think that getting nothing is very clearly the deliberate message.
