When the city surrendered, why didnt Dany demand to see Cersei?

Make Cersei's own soldiers bring her to face justice. Then Dany could have taken her vengeance out on Cersei - the one that deserved to die.

reply

Cersei wasn't rational. She also has chosen to rule through fear.

reply

Uh, Cersei was inside a fortress with all the gates and doors shut and the drawbridge up. Dany was on a dragon, she'd have had a much easier time getting into the Red Keep than the soldiers on the ground.

Honestly, Cersei was standing on a balcony in plain view, if Dany had flown the dragon right up to her and told it to dracarys, Cersei wouldn't have flinched. Which sounds stupid but isn't, the dragon fire could destroy the tower where she was standing in a tenth of a second, so if Dany had roasted the tower where she was standing she'd have had the choice between dying standing and dying running. Under those circumstances Cersei would have chosen to die standing, so at least people would say she died like a queen, and looked great until the end.

reply

Dany didn't know where Cersei was, all she had to do was say "bring me Cersei" - but that would make too much sense for Hollywood.

reply

For all she knew, Cersei was already dead and that's why they surrendered. She didn't even go after where Cersei would be. She just started burning the city. No sense at all.

reply

Honestly, the sensible thing for Dany to do when the bells rung would have been to wave graciously at anyone looking her way, fly towards the Red Keep, see if there were any harpoon guns pointed the right way, and see if Cersei is in view. She might have been doing what everyone else in King's Landing was doing, looking for clean underwear and someone to surrender to.

Or she might have been standing in plain view like an arrogant fool, right where a blast of dragon fire would have take out her and the tower she was standing in.

But no! The writers wanted to have Dany go nuts in one week instead!

reply

Dany's sense of justice is a little bit messed up in that episode. She wanted Cersei to watch the whole city burn while she was essentially at Dany's mercy. Notice she would burn some, then fly to the red keep to take down a piece, then go back and light up some more. She was like bitch you want crazy, I'll show you crazy.

reply

Because burning Kings Landing looked cool.

reply

Because Dany is not a ruler or politician. She isn't even a decent leader. She used the only thing she has to show everyone how powerful she is.
