Was backing Yara and Theon over Euron Dany's worst mistake in hindsight?

Dany chose to support Yara and Theon over him simply because they arrived first. Despite Euron having just been elected King by the Ironborn lords. So he had no choice but to go to Cersei.

If she had accepted his offer, she likely could have delayed the wedding until after she took the Iron Throne and/or killed Euron at some point if she wished.

Without Euron's help, Cersei would have almost certainly fallen when Dany first arrived.

reply

In order to get Euron on her side, Dany would have had to marry him or at least screw him.

Eeeeewww!!!

I can't imagine she has any regrets over that one.

reply

That's why I said that she likely could have delayed the marriage until after they took the Iron Throne. What was Euron going to say? No, I'm sailing back since you want me to wait until after we take the Iron Throne?

She's a queen. She said herself that a marriage alliance was why she was leaving Daario in Meereen. How did she know any other options. It should have been a political decision.

reply

Yeah, well Yara was willing to give her enough ships to get her armies to Westeros, for nothing but a little flirting! Easy deal!

And I really think there's a limit to what Danerys is willing to marry, no matter how much she could gain from it, and Euron is as over the limit as Robin Arryn. Ick.

reply

Robyn Arryn might be the big winner. The writers have pretty much forgotten about him, so he's just been hanging out in the Vale doing his thing for years and years and will likely end the series the same.

reply

Yup, he's safe in the Vale for winter, by the time the passes open the question of who rules Westeros will be settled and the winner can easily bitchslap him into bending the knee. He's free to be his repulsive little self for the meantime.

Still, nobody's going to marry him.

reply

To be fair Daenerys couldn't have predicted he'd be a Deus Ex Machina plot device with a teleporting fleet.

reply

Also to be fair, he's hardly the only one with that ability. Dany has definitely been using teleportation technology for her fleet too.

reply

Everyone has been teleporting via jumping around the map more or less in recent seasons but Euron has taken it to extreme levels by seemingly literal teleporting ambush attacks that have devastated Danaery's forces not once but 3 times.

reply

Cersei would have been dead meat if Daenerys didn't listen to that moron Tyrion!!! She could have taken the Iron Throne with three dragons and she didn't have to burn the city to do it, just the red keep and Cersei ass! Neuron could keep his "big cock"! We can talk hindsight all day long.
