How does the North have any kind of army left at all?

They made a big deal of showing in early seasons how pretty much all the able bodied men were with Robb and his army was slaughtered at the Twins. The Ironborn were able to pretty much walk right in with little resistance. Raising a couple hundred to retake Torrhen's Square or Winterfell was a big deal. And these were the leftovers.

Then they had a civil war and Battle of the Bastards that killed all kinds of people. These were made up primarily of the same Bolton/Karstark men not slaughtered against the paltry number of loyalists that Jon could find. Then the attack on Winterfell by the Army of the Dead. The Umbers were already wiped out before then. Few remaining Mormonts were wiped out during the battle.

On top of that they gave the North a tiny population in the show that's less than the population of KL.

Now they still have men who are willing to march South with Robb to face the Lannisters?

And only half the Dothraki and half the Unsullied were killed in the Battle of Winterfell? WTF? Wasn't it like virtually all of the Dothraki and Unsullied based on what we saw on screen? Was the other half waiting in the mountains?

Since they have teleportation It's possible
they have replicator technology also.

Maybe they ordered an an army of clones. That would explain it. They could at least tell the viewers that.

Yeah, it seemed a little incongruous to me that only half the army was destroyed. It seemed like there were many many more, given the few Dothraki we actually see returning with Jorah, and the number of Unsullied who were still on the wrong side of the trench when Grey Worm closes it. And this time the Wildlings aren't going to be involved. Tormund is going back north, and as much as they love Jon, I doubt very many of them care who rules in Kings Landing.

BUT, I'm also wondering if, as Jon and company head south, they're going to pick up allies. They have to pass the Twins and go through the Riverlands, and Sansa or Jamie may have been working an angle there. Plus, Jon may totally stink at strategic planning, but he's very very good at getting people to play well with others.

And Dorne. Don't forget them. They had declared for Dany way back in Season 6, but we never did get to see their army.

They were planning a siege against a peninsula, so they didn't need a massive force. They thought the dragons could keep the ships out of blackwater bay, then they only had to shut down the Kings road to block their supply line.

The situation has changed since they made the original plan, and it probably means help will have to come from ?? before they can put kings landing on lockdown.

yeah, it seemed like 95 percent of the Dothraki were toast, and about 70 percent of the Unsullied (those guys were good, facing down Death, literally, to let the others escape).
