"A mature dragon in the air is virtually invulnerable." - GRRM

"Only one Dragon in recorded history has been brought down in the air by a projectile and it was a one in a million shot. A mature Dragon in the air is virtually invincible." - GRRM

I can't find the source of the quote, so take it with a grain of salt. But it does seem logical because if they were truly as easy to kill as the show portrays, the Targs never would have conquered Westeros in the first place.

That's exactly it. How did Aegon the Conqueror conquer Westeros, because no one dreamed of setting up Scorpion Attack Ballistae? I don't think so. What Double Dee did to this show and to George's story in the last several seasons is unforgivable.

Some idiot named Euron Greyjoy shows up in Season 6, with no character development at all, builds a thousand ships from trees that don't exist, from lumber that doesn't exist, takes over the Iron Islands, ambushes Daenerys fleets not once, not twice, but three separate times, ferries over 20,000 Golden Company from Essos, somehow kidnaps Missandei--completely offscreen and unbelievable, and now kills a dragon.

I wonder what Double Dee wrote Euron to do next? Kill Jon Snow? Maybe kill Daenerys with his wits? Maybe kill Greyworm? Maybe kill Arya as she's about to dagger Cersei? Maybe kill Sansa by teleporting his ships to Winterfell?

You're right. People talk about Arya being a deus ex machina but it's really Euron.

George RR Martin wrote Euron as owning a magical horn that controls dragons in the book, so...

Yikes! =O

Book Euron and show Euron are entirely different people. Basically the only thing they have in common is their name.

reply

Seems like in the book the stories of older dragons made them sound a lot bigger than the ones currently on the show...

reply

Well, the creators of the show didn't have no time, no resources, no sufficient info to explore the magical horn storyline so they decided to go with something straightforward (and dumb) - huge crossbows.
