I recently watched all of this show up to current so I could be ready for the final season. I had watched the first 3 seasons when it aired and sort of drifted away, then caught back up recently. I'll say these season 8 eps aren't perfect, but they never could be. Don't expect or demand so much of it, and it's very enjoyable. If you make it the most important thing of your entire life, there's no way it could live up to that.

8.3 had a lot hanging on it, but I thought it was a very exciting watch. 8.4 was kind of plain, but understandable as a transitional episode between 2 huge ones. I loved episode 8.2. Loved it.

I don't think the complaints are about lack of perfection as much as the stark (no pun intended) difference between the storytelling approach in the last two seasons vs the earlier seasons.
