Jon and Benjen in Beyond the Wall

Noticed something I hadn't really picked up on before. Jon's relationship with Benjen is somewhat unique in the sense that, assuming he learns the truth of his parentage, Benjen is his only relative with whom his relationship would still be the same. Still a true uncle, and didn't know of Jon's true parentage either.

Too bad Benjen died helping Jon in season 7.

I'm wondering though if he may have at least suspected. Not right away, of course. But he would have known Ned better than just about anyone and would have known just how out of character it would have been for his brother to father a bastard.

Plus, in the very first episode, he attempts to dissuade Jon from going to the Wall. He says something along the lines of, "You don't know what you're giving up." And "You may want a family someday."

I'm not saying he knows for sure. Ned would not have told him. But I'm thinking he may have grown a little suspicious over the years.

That would fit really well, they are just seeds and may be coincidental, but quite possibly not. Many characters commented on that being out of character for Ned, makes sense.
