Why does no one think to just assassinate Cersei?

Jon Snow I can see finding it to be "dishonorable" but based on her history I don't see Danaerys having such reservations. It would instantly solve so many problems and couldn't possibly be a more daunting task than the asinine & disastrous "capture an ice zombie to show Cersei" plan. Only Arya thinks to do this, albeit for personal reasons before abandoning the plan.

Agreed. As I said in another thread, Cersei cannot expect "honor" to protect her after murdering all of those people in the Sept of Baelor.

If we ever get the last two books, it will be interesting to see how much the show and books diverge toward the end. For some reason, I doubt GRRM would have a plot hole this big.

There would also be the added benefit of ridding the fictional Westerosi human gene pool of such a vile, toxic and evil bitch.
Needless to say, however, that if you tell her I said this, I'll deny it.
Idk, wouldn't she have to like, sleep with non-relatives in order to participate in said gene pool?

reply

True. She does tend to keep to her own.

Honestly, if Danerys wanted to win the war with minimal loss of westerosi life, all she ever had to do kill Cerseri, Jamie, Kyburn, and Frankenmountain - with assassination or a quick "dracarys" or whatever. Take them out and she could just march into the throne room, sit on the iron throne, and say "I'm queen by right of birth, and anyone who cares to contest my claim is welcome to challenge my champion Drogon to single combat!".

If Tyrion never advised her to do that, he's drunk all his brilliance away.
