Too much screen time wasted on Theon

I would have gladly sacrificed 10 minutes of Theon scenes and the Greyjoy boxing match, to see more of Winterfell.
We haven't even seen Theon for 2 episodes, he went back to Dragonstone to ask Dany's help to rescue Yara, but then he was just absent during all the hard work and dangerous quests, and then he re-appears at the parlay?
I don't even care about him anymore. he's going to the iron islands to save Yara but Euron didn't even go there, he went to Essos to get the golden Company?

Also apparently his superpower is that's he's now impervious to a knee in the groin. That was amusing.

I think they did the scene with Theon/Jon as a foreshadowing of Jon finding out his true name. Remember Jon said that you are a Stark and a Greyjoy. This thinking will be extremely important for Jon moving forward once Bran/Sam tell Jon the real truth about his name. He'll have to decide if he's a Targaryean or if he's a Stark or if he's both like he told Theon.

I agree the whole scene of let's go rescue Yara was not needed.

And also it was pointed out a couple times this episode how Jon will always see Ned as his father.

Also I like Theon and really liked that scene he had with Jon. That was a very good scene, and I think Allen is such an underappreciated actor, his character has come such a long way since season 1.

Once Theon finds out that Euron isn't at the Iron Islands, he could send a raven to warn Dani and Jon that something is up.

I think they did right giving him more screen time. He had barely done or said much at all in this season. It wouldn't feel good writing to have his character just be dragged along for the ride in the background as a barely speaking secondary character, considering how much development his character has had over the course of the series.

Hopefully he is given more meaning in the bigger picture for the last season than a rescue mission of his sister, because I can't say I really care all that much for her.

I agree. I enjoyed Theon's scenes this episode.

I thought Theon stood on his own in that fight, since he proved he cannot be kicked in the goolies, since he HAS NO goolies. At last his men stood with him.
