My brother has a theory that John will be flamed by one of the dragons but not die, thus revealing his Targaryen background. Other thoughts?

shareBeric doesn't seem to be anything-proof, every time he comes back to life he's got the scars from the last time he was killed. So who knows about Jon, maybe his flamatory status changed when he came back to life but who knows, Melisandre didn't seem to know what she was doing or to have much control over the process.
As to Mel herself, who knows. There was an incident in the book where she shared a cup of poisoned wine with someone who was trying to save Stannis from her influence, and the poisoner died and she was totally unharmed. She seems to be able to use magic to protect herself, but we don't know what her limits are.
