@ Arya fans: what do you think of her Faceless Assassin "arc"?

I liked it for what it was but seemed like filler in the larger story. She is basically back in Westeros hunting the same targets as before she left. She really didn't seem to get that much training while she was there. She spent most of time defying their commands and murdering who she chose to (or chose not to). The only real skill she learned is the face mask trick which the already used in season 6 finale.

It will be interesting to see how they integrate her back into the Jon Snow / Cersei storylines if they ever do. She and the Hound are kind of just out there floundering with no purpose.

Should have done it all in season 6 and cut her from season 5 like Bran.

reply

Exactly!!! Imagine the amount of time we would have spent with Stannis, Cersei vs Margaery etc.

I'll say storyline because there was no arc. The storyline was utterly pathetic, devoid of any qualities apart from visually, and resulted in basically nothing.

In both the books and show, it could have been done better. Too much time is spent on pointless training scenes, and not enough on explaining why the Faceless Men are actually important.

Why do you always have to seek to sew discord?

No wonder Jesus quit carpentry. It's so much harder than talking on a donkey.

Have you ever heard the fable of The Scorpion and the Frog?

I enjoyed this arc. Yes, it could have been more creative and mind-bending but D&D are not that kind of writers.

The unfolding of the arc has had its ups and downs, but that moment when Jaqen first offered to take her along after they made it out of Harrenhal was the most excited on-the-edge-of-my-seat I have been in the entire series.

I remember shoving my buddy into the wall and yelling "DO IT ARI DO IT!!!!"

If they would have just thrown in a couple more bada$$ faceless dude extras walking around and looking all mean and wise and deadly, it would have made a heck of a difference for me. That place being a morguey ghost town worked for an episode or two, but they needed to spice it up here n there to make it really suck us all in.
