Extended cut on the barge (spoilers)

Why did they take out her revenge after they killed her husband in the extended cut? They left it in the director's cut. Any opinions on why they did that, and whether it hurt or helped the movie?

Well I figured it out I think. I was apparently wrong about them having it in the director's cut which is the original version of the movie. When they showed it to test audiences they thought Salt was too cold and the scene too brutal, so they added her getting revenge because of that in the theatrical version.

I'd say this scene was changed for the rating.
It was indeed extremely brutal and probably would have caused an R rating.

Eh? It WASN'T in the unrated Director's Cut. It WAS in the Theatrical Version.
