why is there no sequel to this?

Especially with the cliff hanger ending. Did it really flop that badly or is there some other reason?

No, it made 118 mil domestic out of 110 mil budget. Worldwide, it raked in 300+mil and the sequel is in the works.

Yes the sequel is in pre-production which I'm happy about because I quite liked the film and of course the TE ending demanded a sequel.

But I guess we're lucky it did well overseas, because it barely got costs back in North America.

Angelina Jolie has said in a interview that she knows nothing about a sequel and she doesn't believe it will happen..

Not every film need a sequel.
I thought thus film worked perfectly as a stand alone piece.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.
