Without Angelina Jolie, i don't know if it's going to be as good, but it's worth making a sequel.
Apparently a script is in place, but Sony is weighing up it's options.
They are likely to change the title if they press ahead without Jolie.

shareYeah i doubt the sequel will be as good as the original, but on the other hand some sequels are complete disasters and sometimes they're not, we'll only find out when they make the movie, and even then it depends on each film buff's own personal choice of whether the upcoming sequel will be entertaining or not.

Awwww, that's really too bad. I'm excited for a sequel but really upset that AJ won't be in it. She totally embodies that character for me.
shareThey'll have to change the title due to her name being "Salt". The sequel could work if they get another action movie star, but there aren't many female action stars, the next best woman action hero is Scarlett Johansson.

shareIt certainly won’t be happening anytime soon with or without Jolie. I mean, Sony first announced plans for a sequel back in like 2012, man! Not a peep since, as far as I know. And though one should never definitively say never (I mean Zombieland got a sequel a decade later), I doubt it ever will happen.
Now IF they ever do revisit this property, then I can see them making a series or straight to vod movie with another actress or actor in the role, UNLESS there’s any chance Jolie herself agrees to return for a proper sequel. I would love to see Jolie in this role again (she owned this role), but it’s hard to see it happening with her again.
Interesting. Just watched it (again) and it's clearly got an open ended, sequel potential. But as others have noted, without AJ it's probably not going to be anything special.
