Los Angeles is really expensive, and rents are impossibly high for those who work at low-paid jobs in retail stores. For example, I had a friend in LA a few years ago who worked as a grocery store cashier and who lived for several years in her sister's one-bedroom apartment and slept on the couch.

shareYeah, it's pretty expensive living down here, but it really depends on which city live in the LA County. Pomona is pretty reasonable, but I highly doubt that he can afford: rent, food, gas, electricty, etc. on his wages. Probably only food and gas.
shareAnd Eric mentioned the apartment building Jason lived was demolished.
