'Shelter' and 'Weekend' Continue To Break The Typical 'Gay' Film Mold
There are a couple of others as well. How refreshing!

shareAgreed! The genre is full of terribly lame movies full of stereotypes & bad writing, it makes a nice change that these movies exist. Hopefully it is a sign that more movies like these will be produced.
shareWhat are the others? I'd be curious to watch them.
"Looks like she has the right to remain famished" - Veronica Mars
Then check out this excellent peruvian film called Contracorriente from 2009, and known as "Undertow" in the english speaking regions. You will not be disappointed.

Shelter is still the best though. (10/10)
I liked Weekend but it did feel melodramatic and caught up in itself at times and kind of boring, still very good though. (7.5/10)
I like the way gay films are being made nowadays though.
Eternal Summer (10/10) is another film that is definitely worth the watch for anyone looking for gay films that break the stereotypical mold and it's foreign.
Most recent first view:
1. The Princess and the Cobbler - 8/10
Does "Weekend" really break the mold though? I was put off by the what I saw in the trailer, which seemed stereotypical to me: two gay guys are promiscuous, meet a club and hook up almost right away. The difference may be in how they feel empty and lonely, and decide to establish a relationship in the next two days before one of them leaves.
