Remember that it's against the law for anybody to even have any electronic device (including cell phones) turned ON (let alone making or receiving phone calls) during the take-off or landing of an airplane. He was probably just waiting until he was sure that her plane had landed & that she had gotten off of the plane before expecting to get a phone call from her, (you know, so that the TSA wouldn't arrest her & charge with being a terrorist & crimes against humanity).

Exactly, remember what happened when Bart Simpson was playing a game boy on the plane? When the stewardess told him to turn it off, the plane started falling from the sky until he was told to turn it on again.

It somehow affects the plane

She agreed to call and check in with him. Once he didn't think that was going to happen then he called her. What's the problem?

Yes but he's also trying very hard not to be the overbearing Father (in case he loses her) so is giving her the benefit of the doubt. Bryan knows there are a any one of a number of legitimate reasons she didn't call straight away. When we flew into Paris a few years back we were waiting nearly 50 minutes at the baggage carousel evidently because there was a small security issue.
