How can sequels so much worse than the original?

I watched taken 1 for more than 5 times and I still found it is an interesting masterpiece. I believe there would be people hating this movie but there will be haters for any movie anyway.

Seriously, I don't hate any movies (for the matter of fact, I hardly hate anything or anyone and don't say bad things online) but I cannot watch taken 2 and 3 more than once. I love action movies and taken 2 and 3 somehow manage to push over my limit. Taken 2 had some exciting actions but the story was extremely weak. taken 3 just did not make much sense. I always think that an action movie means that there should be some kind of urgency that leads to the actions. Taken provided the kind of urgency that draws me into the story. Taken 2's trailer was really cool but the movie itself just a copy of Taken 1 and the story provided very little urgency (extremely predictable). I simply don't know what is Taken 3 is about, there are hardly any reason for the actions.
