French Government

So, according to now behind a desk, ex-field agent Jean-Claude, the French Government is helpless against these violent Albanian human-traffickers whose numbers have grown to hundreds, yet Superdad Bryan Mills storms in and takes out about two dozens of them along with a French "auctioneer", a perverted sheikh and their crew, all by himself and in less than a week's time ! Wow, if they were to supply him with enough ammunition and a couple of agents just to watch his back, he could eradicate this problem before the month is out :)

Did you miss the long section of the movie where Mills learns that corrupt members of the French government (including his friend Jean-Claude) are implicitly taking bribes to allow the human trafficking to take place?

reply

It's not like the French to surrender so easily.

The auctioneer was supposed to be American. He spoke in an exaggerated accent. I liked that twist.

The auctioneer was supposed to be American.
Not necessarily. In an interview on Irish television Liam Neeson said the movie was originally intended to be a straight to DVD actioner and they didn't overly concern themselves with dialogue or accents.

Think about it, the Albanians have been in France a while. They may not recognise a hybrid Irish American accent but they sure as heck would have noticed that the Director of French Intelligence didn't sound very French.
