In Episode 3.09 where Chuck was supposed to ID a double agent....

In episode 3.09 where Chuck was supposed to ID the next double agent who would be joining the Ring, and he was benched from a mission, it really wasn't his emotions that were at fault when you consider the outcome of this episode. None of those agents were even part of the story after. Instead the Ring tried to frame Awesome to throw Shaw off track for a while so that the rest of their operation could penetrate the Buy More to look for his base (Castle). Now I realize Chuck needed to get stuff off of his chest, but I do believe that his Intersect could not ID one of the guys because they were not even really involved. Did anyone else find that to be a story flaw as well?
