ReWatch turns out to be painful

I watched the show back when it was new and (over)hyped, but after season 2 I stopped watching since so many other shows came up.

Now I'm rewatching, finished S01 and oh boy what an annyoing pos is this thing?

I know the target audience of chuck are the 14-20y old virgin nerds,
but man they have really gone the extra mile to appeal to the demographic.

So many head shaking moments per episode, so many annyoing moments,
which could've been avoided if Chuck wasn'T such a dumb nerd who has no life/situational experience, and then the most annoying best friend morgan who constantly ruins every thing for him/Chuck and every person on earth.

And man the most annyoing thing is chuck himself.
I know he has to play the un(der)fücked nerd who has never been in any real life situation, but they rellay go way to far and cliche with it.
His constant useless nerdy talking in every situation, which doesn't need to be talked or mentioned, but he does it anyway to show his all over his head insecurity.

His stupid lines to everything that happens are just pissing me off,
and just want me to hate him.
For instance, in one episode where he and casey where threatend by a girl,
and chuck has to close the door, he comments like 4 sentences on that he closes, and closed the door.
which makes me just say STFU you annyoing pos.
This over exitement in every little situation is just so f... annyoing.
And of course his clumsyness in every situation, then combined with morgans clumsyness
is so annyoing.

I know it was made for the audience who is like them, but man can't they just grow up.
I mean I was a nerd too, 20 years ago, but I never went that *beep* clumsy and annyoing as hell.

Advice for grown-up, mature, real TV comedy shows watchers: avoid "Chuck" like the ˈfʌkɪŋ plague.

I guess irony can be pretty ironic sometimes. Especially when it smacks you in the face like this.

This coming from an IMDB user who rated Two Broke Girls an 8/10.

Why don't you just change the subject to "I'm a pretentious douche" so we can all just avoid any of your posts in the future.

P.s. I am not 14-20, nor a virgin, nor a nerd, for what its worth. Of course, people such as yourself seem to be stuck in their own assumptions once you've made up your mind, so I'm not sure what good it will do.

I know it was made for the audience who is like them, but man can't they just grow up.

How can you claim to make an intelligent statement when you admit to not even having seen the whole show, but yet make a judgement on their lack of character development? Perhaps it is you who has not grown up yet...

So many head shaking moments per episode, so many annyoing moments

Sorry.

I'm sure you're a real stud.

And man the most annyoing thing is chuck himself

No, it's you. Fixed it.

Bruh... do you even sentence structure?

His stupid lines to everything that happens are just pissing me off,
and just want me to hate him.

Then stop watching? You are expressing nothing more than a subjective opinion here.

I mean I was a nerd too, 20 years ago, but I never went that *beep* clumsy and annyoing as hell

Damn, you are a terrible writer.

I'm 53. Not a virgin and love this show. Chuck makes me laugh every episode. Sarah is just fun to look at and Casey is pretty cool guy. All the dudes at the Buy More are annoying. I could do without them all. But the show goes down as one of my all time favorites.

I think the OP is just upset that he doesn't fit the demographic for this show. I love Chuck. I've started re-watching them, and I think they're even better, because it's been long enough since I saw them that I can't always remember what's going to happen, but it's like re-visiting old friends because I enjoy the characters so much.

It helps, though, being a geek and nerd (Scifi/fantasy fan and software developer). So I see a lot of myself in the character. This is more like the action adventure equivalent of Leonard and Penny in The Big Bang.

Am I in my late teens/early 20s and a virgin, as the OP expects? Too old, and engaged to be married, I'm afraid... And my sisters (both late 40s) love the show as well, so it's not just guys! :)

I thought the nerds from the Buy More were the heart of this show. I don't even know how one could watch it with such an intense dislike for them. Some of the shows best moments involved them.

Totally agree! I think the OP just wanted a generic spy show (e.g. something like Alias, which bored me and lost me before the end of the first season). Chuck, as you said, is about the characters in the Buymore as much as it is about the fun spy stuff. The spy element is what adds the excitement/wish fulfillment fun of the lead character. It basically boils down to 'what geek/nerd hasn't wanted to be the action hero who gets the girl?'

That' sums Chuck up in its essence. Having said that, there's a lot more too it. I always enjoyed the brother/sister dynamic (having two older sisters myself), and the best friend stuff with Morgan (and I like that Morgan eventually grows as well).

Sarah is herself an interesting character, because of how she learns to be 'normal' again. Even Casey becomes more than the ex-cold-war spy joke that he starts out as (and he's brilliant at!).

As for the BuyMore characters, let's take Jeff and Lester... even their creepiness is what makes them so funny. ;-) I'd sooner have a laugh with their harmless antics any day, than a hundred Seth Rogan 'comedy' movies.

I also think it did a surprisingly good job of having a jock character and making him really likeable!! (Capt. Awesome, of course). I can't think of many shows that manage that. ;-)

This show was very entertaining. The demographics the OP stated don't even work as much of the humour revolved around 80's pop culture. This show was for people who understood the references. People with more generic tastes might simply not get it.

I hate to say, but I think that those who think the show would be good without the geeky/nerdy characters are completely missing the core of the show. They just want a different tv series, and Chuck doesn't happen to be for them. It'd be like someone saying "I'd enjoy Star Trek, but all those spaceships and aliens are just stupid. They should have left them out."

Leave out those things, and it's a completely different show for different people. ;-) And as you said, if you look at most of the humour in Chuck, it's for people who grew up in the 80s. That's probably one of the reasons I love it so much!

It's just kind of mindless fun for me. I am just NOW watching the show on Netflix, on season 3. Of course some of the situations are far fetched and some characters are annoying but I am enjoying it. Seeing Matt Bomer is an added plus.

Well as a senior citizen now and a nerd, I still love watching re-runs of this show. I love lots of shows over the recent years, but this one is still one of my all time favorites. I am surprised you find it so annoying.

The only annoying part to me is Morgan and Ellie who are supposed to be annoying, but they don't turn me off to the show. I know that is the way they are written more than anything.

reply

Not for me. I don't know where you are coming from with this whole demographic thing. I'm thirty and I loved the show when it was on. After re watching it I still love it but not as much. Ellie and Morgan are annoying but there are other factors of the show that keep me watching. Adam Baldwin is awesome as Casey and I love Yvonne Strahovski is stunning to watch even in season three when she was cold to Chuck for no reason. Chuck is very likeable and I could relate to him in high school. And no I am not a virgin. So I don't know where you came up with this Virgin thing. Do you think all Nerds are virgins? You do realize that there are attractive nerd girls right?
