I'm getting really tired of this "representation of reality" excuse - what you call representation of reality, I call half-assed and condescending.
Life may not have a narrative, but we do have stories that have a beginning, middle, and end. We do interact with people on a daily basis who are insignificant to us in the grand scheme of things, but we also have lifelong companions who we genuinely care for and will make a memorable impact on us in many more ways than just one. So no, I don't agree in the least that life is supposed to be dull and uninteresting.
City of God still portrayed the grim realities of gangster life and corruption with something to be engaged by with characters who are compelling, have nuances and motives. If you don't think people in real life have motives or have reasons for their actions than I don't know what to tell you. At the end of the day, if someone wants to make a film that deromanticizes the gangster life and portray reality, then fine. But your goal has to go further than that - you have to make the audience care. Vague characterizations and seeing people get killed for reasons as vague as the character and then claiming that's what life is, is a bullsh!t reason to get someone to cave into liking a movie. That's not insightful or provocative in the least.

My english does not even come close to you so aplogy for that.

These are feel good lines,if those lines are making you happy,re engaging your quest for "that holy something" and making you believe there is something meaningful exist anywhere,I guess nobody stopping you from having some fun.
Your kind(I mean the positive people) needs a real hard knock from the belief they had throughout their life, from the things they cherished, from the little joy they have from the little little things like wife or children or religion etc etc,Please call me when that happens.
On the other hand my kind(you know what I mean) can wait, do nothing, have some chips and and cola and get to finally tell you "told you so".
To be very honest with you this is the greatest complement I have ever recieved.
But I am not just cynical,I am so much beyond that,I am an idiotic ,pathetic, moronic looser too.But this is not about me.
The thing is throughout the years negative energy has taken a fair amount of share in people's mind, look at the things happening around the world, death, destruction, violence, racism, frustration(in my case sexual off course),etc etc.How can there be some meaning around them, the holy belief that if you do some good in your life you may get some lapdance in heaven doesn't even sound appealing anymore. So when cinemas try to show that unbiased I guess there's nothing wrong with that.
The thing is society, family whatever around us try to teach us to see some meaning in life, believe me they have a selfish desire, cause the last thing they want is to disrupt the order inside which they feel powerful whether materially or spiritually, but deep down inside they know it,you know it and I know it that it's gonna end,in a fraction of a second,so silently. So following this logic if a person thinks it's all a big *beep* joke can you blame him.
I would like to recommend a movie for you ,La pianiste(2001),it can knock the hell(err god) out of you.
I agree, I mean life is a ride, you just gotta take it and enjoy it while it happens, and not wait for some big holy whatever to come along and make me happy, because that never happens, for anyone.
So just enjoy the ride and recognize that the only punchline life is the fact it has no punchline
But then again holding onto the fact there's no holy something is a holy something in itself

So far I have understood you are meaning like not believing in anything is kind of a belief too,I couldn't agree more, the more we want to break the chain we get surrounded by it more and more,I guess it's mortal to get inside it(I mean life),the thing is if there any deeper meaning in that.I like to believe there is not,so is my belief prompting my arguments,I don't know.
My favourite character is Mark Corrigan from Peep Show.
Those aren't feel good lines. If you don't have personal stories, then I truly feel sorry for you and it has nothing to do with being cynical or optimistic (which contrary to your gross assumptions, I'm far more the former than the latter).
On the other hand my kind(you know what I mean) can wait, do nothing, have some chips and and cola and get to finally tell you "told you so".
By doing "nothing", you're just going out of your way to prove your point. If nothing is what you want to do, then fine by me, but don't speak for everyone else that they've made nothing of their existence just because your life is "dull and uninteresting." You're trying really hard to make yourself feel better about your life.
