Why white subtitles?

Did anyone else find it difficult to read the subtitles when they were written against a white background? All subtitles should be in black.

Yeah, that was my main gripe when I saw the film at my local theater. I don't particularly care what color subtitles are, just as long as I can read them. Hopefully they change that for the DVD.

I don't know if they should be written in black cause then your screwed with a dark background I think all subtitles should be yellow that works out like 99% of the time

In Australia, subtitles are yellow, and they work against any background, but I must warn you that if the dvd release you get is anything like the one we got in Australia, it is the worst subtitling job ever ... you get about one half-sentence translated for every five to ten minutes ... it's impossible to follow the film and there's no dubbed option either.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

You are crazy. Or black. Or both.

The best all round subtitles are white with a black outline or drop shadow. That way they show up over black or white.

I was just about to write the same thing but you beat me to it!! Yes; white with black outline or vice-versa is perfect, but I don't think I've seen it happen that way yet. Also, yes, some subtitles are ridiculously WRONG, or misspelled words, etc. Not this movie, but I have seen some real doozies, so bad I was better off without them!!
