Has anyone else bought this dvd only to find there are no subtitles on it? I tried watching it on my computer and no subtitles would come up whatsoever! And im not so fluent in Italian either so it's a bit hard to watch the movie lol
I'm sorry that i don't have an answer, as I'm also looking for one. I'd like to purchase this from Amazon, but it notes that it's dubbed, and also subtitled. I despise films that are dubbed, so I'm wondering if I can use the subtitles instead.
I got an Italian version of the DVD with Italian subtitles, and since Napoletano is virtually unintelligible to me, I needed them. They disappeared in a few scenes for no apparent reason, and then came back after 2-3 minutes. Dunno why they can't seem to work this out
I rented this from the Australian BigPond outlet, and it is without doubt the worst subtitling job I have ever encountered ... I had several frustrating tries at bringing up subtitles until I realized that there are no sub-titles at all in the first two scenes ... after that you get about one short sub-title for ever 5 to 10 minutes of dialogue, frequently only half sentences. I had looked forward to viewing this critically acclaimed film, but on the DVD I watched it was absolutely impossible for a non-speaker of Italian to follow what was going on. Whoever was responsible for this DVD issue is an absolute disgrace ... avoid it like the plague.
We rented a version that had only one or two subtitles very occasionally throughout ... it made the story incomprehensible until I saw a very satisfactory subtitling. But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.
