Huge City of God, two escobars, etc.. fan, have been recommended this film for years and I remember the acclaim when it came out 3 years ago, but I have to say I was left a bit disappointed. It's certainly worth a rewatch and the cinematography is gorgeous, but like the subject states, not the masterpiece I thought it would be.

Why wasn't it a masterpiece?
Asking just out of curiosity, since I thought it was a very fascinating and good film. It was very gripping, I thought!

Certainly a good film and definitely worth a look, but definitely nowhere near as compelling a story and without the definitive characterization which makes City of God such a terrifyingly great film.🐭
