Poor Candace

Ok, it's a Lifetime movie, I know I shouldn't expect a story that actually makes sense and questions are answered at the end, but I felt bad for poor Candace with the way the story ended! Poor girl was tortured and murdered by daddy, just wanted a new mommy, and new mommy ends up being a bitch who yells at her and tells her to go away. Maybe the director wanted to avoid the typical cleansing scenes from haunting movies and do something different, but this wasn't the evil dad that haunted the house, it was an abused child and I wish she could have had a happy ending. I kept waiting for the mom to walk down the road to the church and enlist the priest's help for Candace to "move on" to the next world. Poor kid.

And don't even get me started on the ass of a husband.

Suzzane the "new mommy" was not a bitch, she was kind and loving to Candace until Candace turned against Molly and then decided to kill Suzzane's unborn baby.

I kinda agree. I have seen a sad bunch of movies of family-drama/ghost-story movies and usually the good protagonists helped the ghost, by discovering his/her story and identity, finding the murderer, the grave and the setting him/her free by fixing ghost's unfinished issues and helping him/her understand and forgive or be forgiven to be finally free.
I was disappointed that they didn't help Candace. They had all the means: Molly and Dora could see the ghost all the time and talk to her with no problem, the priest and the doctor were supportive, they could have helped her soul quite easily.
I hoped the main characters would be empathic enough to go a bit beyond this "ok, we've had enough, it's not actually our problem" attitude.

It would have made the movie more sympathetic if there had been efforts to help Candace find peace. I liked the revelation about Dora at the end. Dark stuff.

Molly's stepmother was kind and loving. My problem with the movie was that it was as if the writers could not decide whether to make Candace a ghost or a demon. To me, it was a demon who had watched Candace's life and when she died, the demon caused trouble for anyone who had circumstances similar to Candace. I would have rather they would have characterized "Candace" as a demon and had Molly and Suzanne tell it they know it is not Candace, that Candace died and to leave them alone and go away. Then at the end, when you see the swing move and the little boy looking, they should have had a close up of him and suddenly Molly and maybe her stepmother appear beside him telling him to have nothing to do with who he sees. Then we see Molly and her stepmother glaring at the swing and you get a sense that they are ready to do battle with "Candace", not allowing it to harm anyone else.

The husband was not bad. He was just over protective of Molly and really did not believe all Suzanne said.
