CBS Online shuts down Swingtown Message board

CBS has removed the Swingtown message board from its site. The Swingtown page will be replaced by another drama series later this month.

Good! Hopefully this means they'll move the show over to cable instead of keeping it on that ultra conservative crime and crap station. CBS stinks! I'll be enjoying ABC instead. At least they have variety.

By the way, the Swingtown site is still up and so is the community. Just that you can not access it as it takes you back to the home page for CBS instead.

If SWINGTOWN is cancelled I would not be surprised. The same people that created/produced this show also made JERICHO which was also cancelled by CBS. Both shows were great. CBS needs a management shake up

I didn't know that...go figure!!! I can't believe shows like "Big Brother" and "Two and a Half Men" get such continually high ratings!!
CBS management won't give the little guys a chance. At least, now that there are so many cable stations now, Swingtown could be picked up!!!
One can only hope....
What we've got here is...failure to communicate

Grr, I hate Two and a Half Men. Wow, a sexist, unfunny, idiotic show certianly NOT suitable for children and yet it has been on for five years while people continuously bitch about the subject matter of Swingtown, a drama with real people facing all kids of issues in a complex manner.

I just went and looked and I think a big part of the reason why they shut it down is because there are numerous threads (one after another) about saving the show and "CBS - what are you doing?". If it were me, I would not want people to continue writing this on my boards. Even though they may cancel the show and it is being shipped off to Bravo, I bet they still want their integrity.

But I agree that they have no idea what they are doing!

I bet they still want their integrity.

Oh, it's a bit late for *that* ;)

reply

Yeah, well I like the show How I Met Your Mother so I thought I would be nice.

Integrity?

CBS?

They don't like to hear people speak their minds but it's okay to write about "America's Greatest Dog" and calling that rigged by CBS? By the way, what IS that show still doing on their message boards?

What are you talking about?

I'm sure that was for me, so I'll answer.

You brought up that CBS is probably looking for integrity. I stated that they are doing a fine job of it at the "Greatest American Dog" message board where people are accusing CBS of having it rigged and tearing each other apart for no other reason than a difference of opinion. (I just happened to see that their message board is still up). For what? I don't know. It's a show I wish would just go away like all the rest of the other lame reality shows.

Nobody on the "Swingtown" board was being nasty to one another. Occasionally there might have been a troll or two but in general the vast amount of people were having fun on the board. Yes. We would like the show back. So, what's the matter if people voice their opinion and say, "What is CBS thinking?" That's a loss of integrity? I've heard far far worse from angry "Moonlight" fans who continually bash the station anywhere and everywhere they possibly can, making CBS look like a joke (deserving as that might be). CBS should know that people are going to be outraged when a popular program is on the rim of a dumpster when another network could have given it a fighting chance.

Integrity is not the best description for CBS. They have NO integrity or belief in viewers. They are a slave to the ratings more than any network. Tassler knew that all of the different programming she bought up wouldn't be able to survive in the world of police procedurals. That's not what CBS fans go for.

Younger audiences are flocking over to other networks because they offer a variety of programming. They know integrity by giving programs a fighting chance. CBS used to have integrity. The problem is they don't know how to hold on to it.

I meant what are you talking about in the sense that I explained what I meant about why I said integrity. Therefore, your response was not needed. I do not visit the website for CBS that often (actually Swingtown was the only reason), so I do not really look up any other message boards.

reply

I'm so sick of CBS canceling shows I really enjoyed like Swingtown and Moonlight. It makes me not want to support any new shows because you know they will probably end up canceling them.
