Cinematic abortion
Whoever green-lit this turd of a movie should be drawn and quartered.
shareSomeone didn't enjoy the movie. Oh well, this movie is geared more towards fans of the genre, not the average viewer or a spot horror/slasher fan. I have hated movies 2 but none were "cinematic abortions" except in my own mind. Ya hated it? Fine. No need 2 be offensive about it. I enjoyed it. Not as much as great horrors/slashers IMO such as Psycho, The Strangers, Child's Play, or Orphan just 2 name a few, but enjoyed it nonetheless. "Why are you doing this to us?" "Because you were home."
shareFans of the genre? Well, I've been seeking out horror films since one scared the bejesus out of me as a toddler, and as a "fan of the genre", this film was a complete waste of celluloid. To even try and paint the film as a "thriller", as was attempted in the DVD extras, is laughable.
"Cinematic abortion" sums it up pretty nicely.
You can rest your mind at last, you've resolved the horrors past...
As is usual for the internet, so many childish overreactions here. This was no classic, but its hardly a "cinematic abortion" or any of that kind of nonsense. Just a run of the mill slasher with the sole innovation of not using much blood/gore, which I'm sure made fans of the gnere angry enough to post stupid comments like this.

Huh? I'm about as hardcore as they come in terms of horror movies, just short of stalking the original cast of Night of the Living Dead, and I can tell you in strict confidence that this movie was NOT for people like us. It was intended for a young to mid-range audience of teenagers who probably have no knowledge of what the original entailed.
I'm not trying to start an argument here, but when you mentioned "The Strangers" in a list of supposed "great horrors/slashers" you lost some credibility. It's fine if you liked the Prom Night remake, to each their own I suppose, but I felt that your comment was off base and highly inaccurate.
I see where you're coming from I guess I could've explained myself better. you are absolutely correct about the teen thing. The 2 points I tried to make and didn't do as good a job of as I originally thought are thus1. It was not a cinematic abortion. IMO a cinematic abortion would The Incredible Hulk with Eric Bana but every movie will have some fans and they shouldn't be discounted.2. What I should've said was as a horror/slasher fanatic I don't find many that I can't take some kind of enjoyment out of. Like I said, I didn't word that like I would've preferred.Final note...The Strangers just happens to be a personal fav that I would classify as a classic. I understand if u don't, but that's one thing I know I said right, at least IMO "Why are you doing this to us?" "Because you were home."
shareReally? They intentionally make movies badly so as to be geared towards the genre? Really?
Good to know.
Wasn't that bad. Usually when I rent a straight to video turd film, I can't sit through it for 10 minutes. This film was not great but made the theaters because it had some decent names and an ok film
