What killed it for me (some spoilers)

After years of refusing to see this movie, my curiosity mysteriously grew and I had a chance to watch it so I thought why not? I do admit it did have some things going for it. The soundtrack is the best part of the movie (that's not always a good sign), I liked a few of the actors (mainly the adults) but what prevented me from completing enjoying it was the stupid actions done ONLY to serve the plot

1. You're right detective, why does it take three days to notify you about an escaped lunatic from your town? Of course then they would put up road blocks near the town, catch him and no movie, right? Whatever. I smell a lawsuit against that hospital.
2. And speaking of, if I were Donna I'd be afraid too. Crappy police force in this town! Yeah he did get by with the disguise at the end, but still.
3. And this was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, when I realized this would not be a good one at all. The detectives pull the alarm and tell everyone in the entire building to evacuate. EVERYONE! What does our main girl do? "Oh I have to get something in my third floor room! I'll be back in a hurry provided there's no maniac up there trying to kill me!" She would've deserved being iced just for that.

I know, I know. I am a horror movie fan and people in horror movies are known for doing stupid actions just to serve the plot. But this movie went too far with those stupid actions. Plus the fact that it felt too much like a 90s teen movie disguised as a thriller didn't help too much.

It didn't help the fact that it was pg-13. You cannot successfully make a pg-13 slasher film.

Yes, what else did Sony Entertainment make that is 13-PG?? That is, teens would have to explain everything to their parents.
Answer: ROCK VIDEOS. A 2008 "Screen Gem"?? No, an imitatation of the GLITZ of TV rock videos. There can be heartwarming or heartbreaking stories to them, but never gore.

What do you expect from PG-13. That's what you get.
