Is the killer supposed to look like Charles Manson?
Or was it just a coincidence? Am I the only one who thinks he looks like him at the beginning, when it shows flashbacks of the interrogation?

I think the film-makers made him have long hair and a beard at first, so when he escapes he could shave, and be "in disguise." Not that it helped that much.
