They SHOULD have called it Prom Night 5!

It's not a remake, and it feels more like one of the sequels, where the only thing that connects it to the original is the concept of "prom night".

I mean, sure, Prom Night 3 was the only one to be a true sequel to the one before it (both featured the character Mary Lou), but Prom Night 4 was an entirely new story altogether.

So... calling it Prom Night 5 would have made more sense, since no one would see it as a remake and fans of the series wouldn't just assume that it's a direct sequel to any of the other entries.

Yeah, I definitely agree!

i agree also this was not even a remake!

This should've been part 5, and maybe just gone direct to DVD, as the story didn't try very hard. I worry people who haven't seen either film will watch this one and assume it's a straight remake, and won't even bother seeing the original. That bugs me. The original gets some criticism, but at least it tried.

Yeah who would go see it if it was called Prom Night 5? Not as many people at all. That would be stupid if sony did that all the people who would see the preview would be like Prom Night 5? When the hell did the other 4 come out? This one made over 57 million dollars worldwide, off a 20 million dollar budget, it had to have made at least a 15 million dollar profit, you put 5 at the end of it it lands in the mid 30s ww and fails.

This is not worth a theatrical release, had this been titled PROM NIGHT 5 is should have gone straight to DVD. Sure it made a lot, being a slasher promoting itself as a remake and being rated PG-13.
