The lack of MYSTERY is what ruined this movie for me

I just love a good slasher/mystery movie, like the original PN. I can't say the same for the remake. What fun is their in knowing who the killer is 5 minutes into the movie? The charm in watching these types of movies is guessing who the killer is and being creeped out by a spooky mask. Other than an okay soundtrack, I didn't like this movie at all

That was but ONE of the main problems with this film. If the story was good and the majority of characters had been played by someone else I would have been able to tolerate it.

I couldn't believe there was no mystery either. I'm like, "Okay, Johnathon Scaech is the killer...........there's gotta be some sort of twist right? Wrong.

Where have all the good writers gone?

The original is superior just for trying harder. And I can't help but like the music in that one too.

I agree about the mystery, but in my opinion the remake had a hell of a lot better crafted suspense, mainly due to the guy paying the stalker

Completely agreed! at least if they not going to do an exactly remake and just take the concept, it would be nice that they would keep the identity of the killer in secret until the end...rule number 1 of slasher films!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

The remake was ok, but the fact that they used the same guy as before (without even adding a twinge of mystery, or even entertaining the notion of a different killer maybe) just kind of killed it for me. At the very least the killer could have worn a mask.

The opening with the obsessed teacher is a good set up. I would've preferred a killer with a mask too. Let the audience believe it's the teacher, but it turns out to be someone else. I think what should've happened is the killer turns out to be the teacher's Psychiatrist at the mental asylum, and the police learn the teacher actually killed himself days earlier.

I agree with the original poster. Even when they make a slasher with a killer in a costume they end up *beep* it up somehow.

The killer was lame, but the lack of mystery was nowhere near this movie's biggest issue

The problem with the movie is that the killer just successfully killed one person after another without fail. It would have been more interesting if some had gotten away by, for example, turning away as they approached where we knew the killer was waiting.

If you're not going with an unknown killer, at least give him a creepy and mysterious appearance and, most of all, give the movie suspense and make the kills interesting.
