What the aunt and uncle should have done (SPOILERS)

They should have got her the hell out of that stupid prom the moment the cop told them that the psychopath had escaped his criminally insane asylum. The cops were willing to bring her back home, but then the stupid uncle convinces the aunt to let her stay there because of all of the "progress that she has made" oh please, give me a break, he then says that "it would devastate her being pulled away from all of her friends at Prom", i'm sorry but her safety is more important than being embarrassed for 5 seconds in front of her friends, plus it would be highly unlikely that they would have stayed in her life anyway, due to the statistical fact that 95% of the time no one stays in contact with the people they went to college with, the uncle's logic is flawed.
