The facts are these...
I really miss this show. It's a tragedy that it was cancelled. Like many on this board, I wish more television shows were created with the loving attention of this one.

shareThe facts are these.... Network Execs ONLY care about the immediately dollar. If a show doesn't show immediate profit or strong fan base, mostly the profit thing... well... those bastards become very short sighted and to heck with us.
shareThe facts are these... people who don't typically watch TV, like myself, usually miss out on the good stuff that comes along because we don't know about it until later. Quite likely, people like us don't have Nielsen boxes because they wouldn't watch a lot of TV. Had online streaming been around and popular at the time, the first season might have gotten on Netflix and Amazon Prime by the time the second season aired and helped build the popularity of the show...maybe.
Also, one sign that the show's run was in trouble was how each episode repeated the lengthy exposition about how Ned's death trick worked. This was either because the network and producers felt people found the plot confusing or because they hoped for new viewers each week.
The facts are these: The show was a victim of the writers strike, plain and simple. The lengthy period of being off the air killed the show. During the strike, many people moved to watch reality programs and did not return to scripted shows in numbers after the strike.
