The little girl

Did anyone else's heart go out to the little girl that was stuck in the detention center for 23 months? I was particularly disheartened by it because my professor showed us a clip women and children that get placed in these centers before their immigration hearings. The centers act as a sort of limbo and I just think it is appalling to subject anyone, especially children to such conditions. It is practically a prison, which sucks because most of these children did not have a choice, they were not the ones who decided to come to this country. It just seems like a sh%tty way of treating people.

I agree with you and I'm glad you mentioned that. Hah, "detention" for what I ask?! It's obvious where America's priorities lie based on how we treat people. It's terrible these people are treated like less than human.

With parents in Africa who can't or don't want to take care of her, what's the "obvious" place she should be sent to instead? Or is that not as obvious as how bad the US is? A foster home might be better, or it might be worse. Children in orphanages seem to report having a better experience than children in foster homes.
