Harrison Ford Smoking?

Wow, I honestly can't remember the last time, if ever, this guy has been seen on screen smoking a cigarette. Admittedly, this is a pretty inane topic, but it really threw me. Couldn't believe it. I wonder if they were the real deal or phony baloney movie cigs...

He smoked in Hanover Street 1979, and I believe he did also in the early part of Regarding Henry, and possibly in Frantic or Presumed Innocent

Yeah, I thought is was completely unncessary. They couldn't think of an introductory line when he meets the doomed girl other than, "you got another one of those?" Yuch. Bad writing. Bad directing. Bad example.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!

I really don't see your point. Many Americans still smoke and the largest number of those would statically be close to Ford's character in age. I myself am a reformed smoker who seldom indulges, but there have been many times that I have used the "You got another one of those?" approach.

Is it a cheap and lazy ice-breaker? Yes. But it is also something that happens in reality everyday. The scene was a good reflection of real life and I don't see where you get off calling it bad writing. The man would have little, if anything, in common with the doomed girl and I believe that was the most believe about approach.

As far as being an example, who cares? If you rely on film to provide your examples you are lost already. Smoking is a horrible thing. So is violence, but we can't seem to get enough of that.

Wow, I'm so sorry to have pushed your hot button. It's just that movie stars smoking on the screen pushes MY hot button. In fact just a few moments ago I watched a 1990 film called Jacob's Ladder -- looking forward to seeing Elizabeth Pena again (fell in love with her in Down and Out in Beverly Hills). I forgot -- in this movie and in Bev. Hills movie, she lit cigarettes and inhaled the smoke into her lungs. After 20 years I had forgot.

Hmm, smoking is horrible but so is violence. I sure can't argue with depth of perception.

I was literally smoked out of CSLUB in the 60s when students thought it was mature to smoke in class to deal with the stress of LEARNING. Wish I could have got the degree but I couldn't breathe. It's a hot button with me. Maybe you were one of those guys in the class that forced me out. I'll bet you were, you (**^&%$*%^#&@#$

It was a huge relief for me! If he'd walked over there just to hit on his partner's wayward little sister (less than half his own age), I would have been totally grossed out. In fact, I began groaning aloud until he asked for a cigarette.

He was smoking at the end of Witness, at the epilog.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!
