It's not "white man's guilt", it's not illegal immigrants or immigrants, for that matter, more important than Americans, we are all humans.
What should be talked about is how U.S., and some European corporations exploit the resources of the countries these people come from, thereby creating inflation, which causes them to seek a better life elsewhere. For example American corporations would drive Mexican farmers off their lands since they have the money and power to do so and in "return" offer them something of off which you can't sustain a life, let alone a family.
On top of that, you have the U.S. government support brutal dictators (most of whom are right wing fascists), who get a lot of money, among other things, in return they allow U.S. corporations access to their countries resources, which leads to the inflation and cause of people seeking a better life elsewhere.
It's easy to blame all our problems on immigrants, but they aren't causing them to come here, out own government policies are doing that.
As one example, you have coca cola authorizing right-wing death squads and other security forces to kill union leaders in other countries, this among other abuses. go to killercoke.org for more info.
