Very disappointed. Was hoping for something more thoughtful.

I realize this a movie about a dude raised by apes but I was hoping for something somewhat realistic and intellectual.

Kid wouldn't be able to read.
He'd gotten so many broken bones that he'd be disfigured.
Grown Tarzan is so thin, my ex-wife could take him.
Ain't no man going toe-to-toe with a gorilla and making it out alive.

You completely missed key points. They are covered in much more depth in the 1984 "Greystoke" which details Tarzan's journey back to civilization, learning things, including reading and writing, plus social customs. Tarzan, John Clayton, is depicted with high intellect and a quick learner. Over some period of time he transitioned from a wild man to an English gentleman.

This movie starts a few years after that, when John Clayton is firmly entrenched in his role as earl of Greystoke, he and Jane are part of the British aristocracy.
