No Carmen Maura?

I was looking forward to another Almodovar/Maura collaboration, but looking at the cast it seems she isn't in this movie. After her amazing performance in Volver one would think it's a given she would show up in the next movie...

Oh well, can't have it all I guess

If I'm not mistaken, in the supplements to the Viva Pedro DVD box she talks about being unable/not wanting to work with him again (I can't remember if she's giving any details).

Yeah, I think she said something along the lines of she and Pedro have sort of reached their creative peak with each other. Essentially, nothing they can do anymore will benefit either artist creatively, so they have chosen to put an end to their collaborations on screen. It doesn't mean that they hate each other or have drama with one another, quite the contrary. They have buried the hatchet and healed the bad blood between them, but they've done all they can together and it is just time to move on.
