question about cinema showings in Spain...?

could someone please advise me...do theaters in Spain sometimes show cinema with english subtitles...?

reply

Yes of course, but only in big cities like Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia.

reply

yes..but it's really hard to find.. usually it's just big multicinemas.. and they translate just the biggest movies.. or also, in really small cinemas, but non commercial movies..

anyway..it's a *beep* that they are dubbing the movies.. i really don't get it.. u cannot see most of the work of an actor..

ciao;)

You are getting it wrong.. In Spain, specially in Madrid and Barcelona, there are many cinemas showing films in its original language with spanish subtitles... (usually small cinemas) But in the majority of the bigger cinemas and in the smaller cities, all the movies are dubbed into spanish.

What Socorso is asking if there are cinemas showing films in spanish with english subtitles... The only place where I've seen that, and veeeery seldom is in the Madrid's Filmoteca (our local cinemathéque)... mainly in old films.

So if you are planning on watching "Los Abrazos Rotos" in its spanish opening next week with english subtitles, it's going to be impossible...

Sorry

reply

Yep, sorry. It's not going to be possible.

reply

Not really. Not for spanish films. For example the British Council sometimes organises festivals or special exhibitions with english subtitles, in Madrid or Barcelona, but not for films being shown on theaters.
You should get a dvd, but it s not the same...
