Thumbs down *spoilers
I really wanted to like this movie, I read the rave reviews and thought it would be worth the price of admission and I was so wrong. First of all, this film is way too long, it drags on and on and on. None of the characters are likeable and half way through I just didn't care what happened to them. And what really surprised me is how Almodovar an openly gay director would include a scene where a woman refers to a semi-closeted gay man by the f word (she says it like 5 times in 5 minutes.) While its made clear that the villian of the film is homophobic and discriminates against his son, there was no need to include that horrible woman. Actually calling the character a villian is a bit of a stretch virtually everyone in this film behaves like scum. If Penelope didn't love her sugar daddy she should not have lead him on and manipulated him, he may have been an obsessive psycho but she was a gold digging whore.
