Yawn: Almodovar has become a complete bore

Personally I liked it when Almodovar felt the need to cater to his audience with heterosexual stories and more interesting plot-lines. Atame and Mujeres al Bordo de un Atatque de Nervios and Carne Tremula were for me his most interesting films. Beyond his crude phase but before his mature phase.

Penelope Cruz was perhaps at her most intersting in this film, but the film itself is mostly a bore. The scenes of the remake replayed at the end (looking like "Women on the Verge") mostly added nothing to the film. The big secrets revealed were mostly obvious from the middle anyway. The romance was never so compelling. There were too many people not doing very much or being very interesting. Yawn.
