Few Plot Questions (spoilers)

I loved this movie quite a bit -- how wonderfully its fragmented narratives and stories and films come together -- but I'm still unclear about a few aspects of the plot. Some questions:

1) What's Ray X's deal in the beginning? Was he serious about making a film? Was that mere code?

2) Did Ernesto Jr. cause the accident? The movie answers no, but the crash seems so violently deliberate and strangely coincidental.

3) Finally, how -- or why -- did Harry/Mateo intend to blackmail Ernesto/Ray towards the end?

Saw it earlier today, looking back I can't recall if the story of the sick father and Penelope as a secretary had an ending ?

1) Yes, he really meant to make a film to tarnish his father's reputation, and free himself in revenge.

2) No, he was there because his father asked him to film everything. And he was obssesed with that "documentary" he was filming. He didn't expect the accident and he helped them after it. At least that's what Almodovar wants us to believe.

3) Mateo says he needs money and Ray has plenty, and that Ray is the only person he can figure out as the responsible of the accident. I found that point a little weak, because in the bar, after Judith's confession, Mateo expressed he thinks it was just an accident. I guess, maybe in that moment (after he watched the horrible version of "Girls and suitcases") his anger would drive him to accuse Ray even if he were innocent.
