I was really surprised by that TOO!! Not even best foreign picture?? seemed really strange to me. Did she get nominated for Volver?

She was up for Volver. I'm pretty sure Spain didn't submit this film though. Because they wanted to give someone new a chance, or because Almodovar's last film, Volver, was snubbed in that category.

Cruz was robbed of the Best Actress Oscar for Volver.
